MurdochiavelliWhile enjoying my geeky, overly intellectual lifestyle, I was listening to a podcast of the ABC's excellent Media Report the other day when I found out that Darth Rupert Murdoch had been name by The Bulletin Magazine Australia's Most Influential Person.

I have to admit that this "revelation" is up there with saying that the moon has an effect on tides and Specialties Cookies are a gift from God. Interesting that the Bulletin is owned by Channel 9 – the Packer owned rival to Mr Murdocks Fair and Balanced media empire here in Australia.

What was more interesting, and proving to me that irony is indeed not dead, this award was presented at Machiavelli's Restaurant in Sydney. Given the tenants of Machiavellianism, perhaps Jamie Packer has more of a sense of humour than his old man.

Personally, I cannot see any similarity.
