Sometimes I wonder how I every did without Google News and its astounding capacity to dredge up interesting tidbits.Certainly it helps when one is desperately trying to dodge the incredibly upsetting events in the Big Brother house which are currently saturating the media here in Australia. But more on that shortly.
Todays feature news article is brought to us by the "New Orleans CityBusiness -- The Business Newspaper of Metropolitan New Orleans". Apparently there is a pack of drag queens terrorising a shopping district by shop lifting anything they need or want.
There is an idea for a TV sitcom here, or a police drama. I swear it.
Menawhile in Big Brotherland drama over two (male) housemates appearing to sexually harrass another (female) housemate, holding her down and waving their parts in her face.
They have been ejected from the house, but there are two quotables from the incident. The first is from the houses amazingly hatchet faced hostess, Gretel who is a show of hopefully studio instructed Menzies era feminism said:
"Ashley and John were fantastic housemates, bringing joy not only to their fellow housemates but to Australia as a whole, and we're very sorry that one foolish incident on their behalf has led to them leaving."
Um - fantastic housemates dont hold people down to wag their willies in her face. No means no Gretel.
Meanwhile, John Howard has commented on the situation by saying he is happy to let the television industry self regulate on the incident as long as they do something about - eg either they self regulate or he will do it for them.
Paternalism at its best.
