Graduation Have I mentioned that I dont have a Batchelors degree?

Probably not. It used to be a big deal for me, it was something I was a little insecure about, that I hadnt gotten into University. Actually, thats not true either. I did get into University, or the Queensland Conservatorium of Music to do the Batchelor there, but as has been the case a number of times in my life I was no good at faking interest and after a year I left to pursue the wildly interesting career choice of Aerobic Instructing. But thats another story.

On Friday night I attended the graduation ceremony for my school. 12 months of hard work and excitement all got distilled down to a little piece of beige paper and some long speeches, and now I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Film and Television Producing.

This makes the third tertiary qualification I have obtained, and you know what, I dont feel any different. I used to be down on myself for not having a degree and when I finally started doing my first course – a Masters in Business Information – I was both scared and excited. Someone pretty smart used to tell me that it really didnt make any difference and that I wouldnt feel any different once I had one.

And they were right more or less.

I guess one thing it has shown me is that I am able to finish things I start, even tedious and difficult things. Now is a pretty complex part of my life and there are lots of balls I need keep in the air, its good to have these pieces of paper of proof for myself that when I set my mind to something I get it done.

There are a lot of people who helped me through last year. It was challenging and tough, but in the loving support of family and friends was all I really needed.
