Hey - I was the rainbow flag waving guy at the Women's final! My buddy and I flew from Boston for the 2nd week of the Open. It was fantastic. The snobby gay guy sitting next to us wasn't with us. I didn't get a chance to speak with him ( I was on the end of the row) but my buddy said he was very nice - and yes he was HOT. Who knows what his situation is - he probably freaked a little when a rugby player Yank sat next to him with a giant rainbow flag - it was the only one in the arena. So cut him some slack and drop me a line. I'll recount my 2 day quest to find a flag in Melbourne. You guys are great!

Cheers, John

Ok,

So yes I watched the tennis. YES I WATCHED THE TENNIS.

Lord you sports obsessesed gay boys. You people are spys for my mother, I swear.

No I was not ignoring the French woman creaming the poor little Belgian waffle. It was a short match and a little disappointing, but I hang on every volley-thingie.

I even watched the start of the mens doubles with Bill and Ben in their matched outfits and the frat boys with their chest slamming. That was cooler and far more interesting since these guys were taking turns at pounding the bejesus out of each other.

I am just not a very sporty person. I played rugby in the All Australian schoolboy side (front row forward), and was in the premiership winning team. From then on my sports interest was kind-o-done.

Frankly I would rather do than watch anyway. So sue me.

so, let me get this straight. there's a hot dude watching the match near you. and the problem is not that he's being a dick to the players who have been working their asses off on the court, but that he hasn't smiled at or acknowledged you? and you think it's because you're not as hot as him? the head reels.

we know you're pretty hot robert, and big. i'm assuming you smiled at said hunk. did you say anything to him? if not, couldn't we accuse you of being shy just as well?

i'm not defendig the dude, but i don't think i'm any better than him. certainly i know what it's like to be ignored because i'm not close to 200 lbs. and not good looking. and yah, that kinda sucks sometimes. and i'm not saying this dude should be like that.

but i am saying we're all guilty of being judgemental and looking mean, whether we mean to be or not. hell i find myself walking through the castro scowling on an all too regular basis. you should see me when i have to start sparring dudes, or even just go to a rock show. i totally put my game face on. maybe that's like what this dude was doing. i can't think that i'd be any better or any different in lots of cases. and it's certainly not because i think i'm god's gift to anything, it's just because that's how i roll, you know?

"Quite frankly I am tired of assuming they are “shy. If you are that good looking you can be gracious about it."

Exactly! And it's not that they don't KNOW they are good looking - they'll have been told hundred's of times.

Being more gracious is a good way to put it.
